Information Handling Policy
Last updated 21 June 2026
The Human–AI Compact (“we”, “us”) is a public pledge about using AI responsibly. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you sign the Compact, why we collect it, how we look after it, and the choices you have. We aim to collect as little as possible.
What we collect
When you sign the Compact, we collect:
- Your name, as you choose to enter it, so your signature can be recorded.
- Your email address, used to send you a one-time confirmation code and, only if you opt in, occasional Journal updates.
- Technical sign-up details created by us, such as the date you signed, whether your email was confirmed, and a unique identifier for your personal signet link.
We do not knowingly collect any other personal information, and we do not ask for sensitive information.
How we use it
- To record and verify your signature on the Compact.
- To send the confirmation code that proves the email is yours.
- To generate your unique signet link, which forwards anyone who clicks it to the Compact.
- To show an aggregate count of how many people have signed (a number only — never your personal details).
- If you opt in, to email you occasional writing from the Journal. You can opt out at any time.
Where your information is held
Signature records are stored in our database, hosted by Supabase. Confirmation and notification emails are sent through Resend. The site itself is hosted on Vercel. These providers process data on our behalf and may store it on servers outside your country. We share your information with them only to operate the Compact, and not for their own purposes.
We don’t sell your data
We never sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t share it with third parties for advertising. We only use the service providers described above to run the site.
Your choices and rights
- Remove your email. On the confirmation screen, and on request, you can have your email address erased while keeping your signature on the Compact.
- Unsubscribe. If you opted in to Journal updates, every email includes a way to stop them.
- Access or delete. You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, or ask us to delete your signature and details entirely.
To exercise any of these, email us at hello@humanaicompact.net.
Cookies and tracking
The site does not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking. Any cookies are limited to what’s needed for the site to function.
How long we keep it
We keep your signature for as long as the Compact is public, because it forms part of a shared, ongoing pledge. You can ask us to remove your email, or your whole record, at any time.
Children
The Compact is intended for adults. If you believe a child has signed, contact us and we will remove their details.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the Compact evolves. We’ll change the “last updated” date above when we do.
